Recommendation:

It is recommended to load a fully loaded extended magazine with the slide or bolt locked
open. This avoids over-compressing the magazine spring, prevents premature wear on
the magazine catch, failed seating of magazine and denting of top ammo cartridge.
Open bolt loading allows the magazine to seat easily without causing damage to the
feed lips or the bottom of the slide/bolt.

If you must load on a closed bolt then remove 1 round from the extended magazine.
This leaves enough “give” in the spring for the magazine to lock securely into place
against the closed slide or bolt.
